PTE stands for Pearson Test of English which is a computer based English proficiency test for study abroad and immigration. PTE Academic is accepted by thousands of universities all over the world.

PTE Academic assesses real-life, academic English, so you will hear a range of accents in the test, from British and American to non-native speakers, so you will be exposed to the kind of accents you will experience in regular daily existence.

There are three principle parts to the test: Speaking and Writing (together), Reading and Listening. There is an optional 10-minute break between the Reading and Listening parts.

SPEAKING AND WRITING (54-67 minutes)

  • This Part of the test contains seven different question type and is the longest section of the test.
  • You will be tested on your speaking and writing skills, using English you might hear in an academic environment.

READING (29-30 minutes)

  • The reading part of the test contains five different questions types.

Because PTE Academic is an integrated skills test, one of the questions types, ‘Reading and Writing: Fill in the blanks,' also assesses writing skills.

LISTENING (30-43 minutes)

  • The listening section contains eight different questions types.

The questions are based on audio or video clips, which begin to play automatically.

In the test, you will hear each audio or video clip once.

Top tip-you are allowed to take notes!

PTE, alternative to popular IELTS test, is flexible in terms of test dates and results are available from 24 hours to 5 working days. It’s score is valid for two years from the test date.
